To everyone’s delight, Indo-American duo Sania Mirza and Bethanie Mattek-Sands crashed into the women's doubles second round of French Open at Roland Garros on Saturday.
The seventh seeds got the better of French duo Alize Cornet and Virginie Razzano in straight sets in the first round while playing on Court No.1. The winning pair scored 6-3, 6-4 in one hour and 28 minutes. Actually, the serves were regularly broken in both the sets. However the seventh seeds broke one extra than their rivals.
Sania and her American partner earlier lost in the first round of mixed doubles. However, both of them crushed the French girls five times in the match. Subsequently, they will lock horns with unseeded American duo Lauren Davis and Megan Moulton-Levy in the next round.
