The nation submerged into a moment of emotional outbreak, as PV Sindhu seized the Gold at World Championships. Little did we know, how she was gracefully supported by another woman on the ground; her coach and mentor Kim Ji Hyun. Though Pullela Gopichand have been her steady mentor to the Silver, but according to her, this Gold was an achievement that was made possible with Kim only.
Her road to success and recognition though stands with Gopichand, for guiding her through her initial days to a Silver medal in the 2016 Olympic Games held at Rio de Janeiro. But lately, with other new comers stepping in, Gopichand had lesser time to dedicate for Sindhu. To fill in the void, Kim Ji Hyun stepped in, and somehow her strategies started working accordingly, as Sindhu eventually claimed the gold after a splendid fight with Nozomi Okuhara in two straight sets.
Kim motivated her to offer something new every time she walks in to the courts, as the opponents are already aware of her usual gameplay and are constantly upgrading themselves to overshadow her. With the piece of advice Sindhu have been steadily improving her game, and evolving herself in accord with the new challenges set forward.
Kim’s influence has helped her achieve her dream after 5 World Championships and her father believes she is yet to offer more tricks and turns in her career ahead, becoming an all-round player that India can rely on in future events.
