Anish Sevekari clinched bronze medal in the 54th International Mathematical Olympiad

To the delight of everyone, Anish Sevekari of Abasaheb Garware College in Pune, India bagged bronze medal in the 54th International Mathematical Olympiad held in Colombia on Sunday.

A statement made public by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education declared that the six-member Indian team bagged two silver and three bronze medals in the competition held at Santa Marta city between 18th and 28th July.

Nuti Pranav from Hyderabad and Pallav Goyal from Chhattisgarh are the other two team members who won the bronze medals. Moreover, Shubham Sinha from New Delhi and Sagnik Saha from Kolkata won silver medals. In addition, city lad Chaitanya Tappu was a part of the team too.

Anish is returning home. His mother Sushma expressed on Tuesday that they are very happy with his performance. In fact, it was his first performance at an international Olympiad and they are waiting for him to come home. She added that Anish has a deep interest in science as well as mathematics but he is yet to opt between the two as a career option. 

Actually, Anish completed his secondary education from the M S Golwalkar Vidyalaya. Prior to that, he studied at Navin Marathi Shala. 

The statement issued by the Homi Bhabha Centre revealed that total 528 students from 97 countries had participated in the competition. Team India was led by C R Pranesachar. Aditi Phadke from Nowrosjee Wadia College in Pune was the deputy leader of the team. Notably, the Indian team was finalized following a month-long training camp held between 29th April 29 and 27th May  in Mumbai. 

The statement announced that the team will be felicitated at the Homi Bhabha Centre in Mumbai at 11 am on Thursday.
