Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain scored two goals hauling a victory of 3-0 against Venezuela on Friday at Buenos Aires in Argentina staying firmly ahead of the South American World Cup qualifiers. On the other side, Lionel Messi who was playing magnificently, created a chain of chances. He has changed a penalty between Higuain’s goals and now leads the nine-nation group’s scorers with nine.
Argentina has occupied the apex position of the group with 23 points from ten matches. Colombia and Ecuador occupied the second and third position with four points and six points respectively. This is a very good achievement on the part of Argentina. We wish all the best to Argentina for South American World Cup final.
Higuain shot the goal in the 29th minute steering his shot past Hernandez when Walter Montillo and Messi together put him through on the right. Messi enhanced Argentina’s goal score with a penalty shoot-out just before halftime. He shot the ball into the roof of the net after hauling it from Gabriel Cichero. Argentina dominated the first half of the game which included a striking shot from Messi that was missed by Hernandez breaking the Venezuelan defence with chances. However goalkeeper Sergio Romero did not have much work to do. At the end of the hour, Argentina scored the wonderful third goal. Messi pushed the ball into the box while Higuain flashed in past Hernandez to complete the goal. Venezuela got their best chance after five minutes when Jose Salomon Rondon crossed low from the left after bypassing Pablo Zabaleta but substitute player Romulo Otero struck the ball over the bar. Otero got another chance to strike which Romero saved.
Higuain is already fixed with a booking which will keep him away from visit to Bolivia on Tuesday. However he is substituted to a standing ovation.
