Bolt & his national team have been tested for banned drugs before World Championships

Reportedly, Jamaican sprint star Usain Bolt as well as the rest of his national team have been tested for banned drugs just few days before the World Championships in the call of six stars from the Caribbean island being caught using performance enhancers.

It has emerged that the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) agents entered the Jamaican team's Russian training camp to conduct the checks related to the blood-testing of all 44 members of the squad in a 5 hour operation on Tuesday.

Further it has been reported that WADA's actions surfaced in the wake of 6 Jamaican athletes who tested positive for banned drugs this year, including several Olympic and World gold medalist Veronica Campbell-Brown, as well as Olympic silver medalist Sherone Simpson and World Championship bronze medalist Asafa Powell.

Mentioning that the sport could be heading its 'Lance Armstrong moment' in its battle against drugs, world champion Dai Greene of Britain commented that although the number of positive tests proves that the sport is advancing to grips with the issue, the officials cannot rest until the last cheat is eliminated.

Further, the Welsh star specified that as cycling made big headlines over doping charges which ended up with Armstrong, similarly athletics seems to be approaching the same way. Although he hoped that it will emerge stronger from the negative media attention, it is receiving at present like cycling has done.

Greene considers that the doping allegations detract the attention from the performances, adding that it is disgusting for him as an athlete to read about such issues in the newspapers.
