The defending champions, United States raved throughout the tournament with a splendid dominance, winning their games one by one, slowly pining up for the finals, and with the same dominance and attack takes the trophy back home for the 4th time in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019. While the Netherlands, was going strong throughout but fell short in front of United States magnificent efforts in the Finals taking the game away from them.

For the first half of the game, both the teams were giving the other a tough fight, not letting any slips open for the opponent to score a single goal. The United States manages to find a breakthrough in the 38th minute though, but Dutch goal-keeper Sari van Veenendaal saves 2 consecutive attempts by Sam Mewis and Alex Morgan keeping the States from acquiring a lead. With any goals scored in the first half though, but the tactics put forth by both teams were spectacular to watch.

However, in the second half, the United States came back even stronger, penetrating through the Dutch defense in several attempts. Their multiple attacks paid off, when Megan Rapinoe in 61st minute secures a lead and the first goal of the final, from a penalty shoot. Within 10 minutes of the first goal, Rose Levelle of United States doubled the lead, with the assistance of Sam Mewis once more, she dribbles the ball through midfield and with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner for the second goal. For the rest of the playing time, United States defended their goal and only looking for obvious chances to add more to the lead, as they became the champions twice in a row in the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
