Can Murali Karthik make a difference for RCB in winning IPL-6

Team India's discarded Test spinner Murali Karthik will be playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the sixth edition of IPL after being released from the Pune Warriors squad on Friday. RCB owner Vijay Mallya would be expecting to make the chances better with the addition of Karthik to the team. Several changes have been taking place at various levels for the teams on an overall.

Last year, the Mumbai Indians benefited a lot with the appointment of legendary South African bowler Shaun Pollock as their bowling coach. Expecting such results must be high on the agenda for the other IPL franchises as well. As far as Karthik’s performance is considered, it should be another successful stint for him after having been played for several seasons representing various franchises.

Promising young talents are waiting in the wings to prove their talents by playing a crucial role for their teams. However, the maximum mileage has been obtained by some of the overseas players as well. The classic example in this regard is that of West Indies devastating opener Chris Gayle who is known to wreck havoc in the opposition camp of any stature on his day. Unarguably, such players have brought sheen to the entire league with their sheer talent levels.

The IPL season 6 is getting heated up with the auctions already began. A lot of Oz players have reaped huge benefits already with young and promising cricketer Glenn Maxwell joining the million dollar club.

Having represented Kolkata Knight Riders before, Karthik joined Pune Warriors India for the fourth edition of the lucrative league, which one of the richest in the world. After playing for PWI in IPL, Karthik is heading south to don the red and gold jersey this season.

RCB, which boasts of a strong batting lineup with the likes of Chris Gayle and AB De Villiers will be looking forward to revive its fortunes by strengthening the bowling department as well. Karthik, who had a dream run locally, could not perform as per the expectations on the international front. This has made things tougher for him eventually losing a place in the team. Considered as a useful batsman down the order, there is no doubt that Karthik will be a major attraction for the entire team.

Murali Karthik has scalped 5 wickets from 17 matches at an average of 86.40 and an economy rate of 7.57 during his association with Pune Warriors.

Also, Karthik's performance in the previous seasons of IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders was comparatively better. With 16 wickets from 26 matches from 2008 to 2010, he got an average of over 36, and an economy rate of 6.62.

With the trusted sources detailing more about the deal, Royal Challengers Bangalore signed the spinner at his base price of USD 400,000. The prolific cricketer has got the experience of performing well under pressurized situations. Perhaps, he enjoys a great reputation in the domestic circuit deserving a lot of praise from senior players like Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
