Can Serb sensation Djokovic win against Ferrer ?

Defending champion Novak Djokovic will be seeking his second straight Australian Open title this year. The Serb player who won the championship twice already will be testing his luck again for the third time. However, Djokovic has to take on Spanish player David Ferrer in order to race ahead. A mighty challenge will be thrown by Ferrer for sure, which has to be considered seriously by Djokovic in order to win. It was long back in 2008 that the Serbian defeated Ferrer in order to claim his maiden Australian Open title. The most recent encounter between them was last year during the quarterfinals when he emerged victorious.

Nicknamed as ‘The Joker’ by his ardent fans for his on-field antics, the Serb tennis star believes that his best is yet to come. Winning major titles on a regular basis has been the habit for him, which has given few jitters to other celebrated players like Roger ‘The FedEx’ Federer and Rafael Nadal. On an overall, it has been the fourth Australian Open final for the player who is on a career high all this while. The weather is bound to play a key role for the Djokovic-Ferrer match with Melbourne heat bothering most of the star players already.

Djokovic was almost evicted out of the tournament already with Stan Wawrinka giving him nervous moments throughout the match. However, it was his experience that played a major role in letting him win the title.

“I need to be aggressive on the court, that’s for sure,” Djokovic said looking ahead to Ferrer. Eager fans are awaiting another great match of which both are expected to give in their best in order to win the match.

“I need to step in and try to be in control of the match, otherwise he makes his own rhythm, he makes his own pace on the court. That’s where he’s very dangerous. He’s a great competitor. He’s somebody that has a lot of respect from all the players because he’s playing so many tournaments and works very, very hard. You can see because he’s basically in his 30s one of the fittest players around and is playing the best tennis of his life in the last 15 months. It’s the semis of a Grand Slam, so I expect a tough match.”

Both of these tennis players are considered to be the fittest of all among the tennis fraternity. It all depends upon the immense power displayed by these players by unleashing a flurry of shots. Meanwhile, other top seed players too have won their respective matches. The most awaited match of all currently is the semifinal between Swiss tennis great Roger Federer and Scot No 1 Andy Murray. Perhaps, there is no clear favorite for this year’s tournament with all the seeded players great skill and power.

Women’s semifinal matches are already underway with Li Na pitted against Maria Sharapova in one of them. The Russian player has been in great form with matches won against her opponents in a ruthless manner.
