Carlsen and Caruana Draw After Marathon Match

The opening game of the world chess championship is bound to be tense. And when it’s a tussle between two heavyweights you can cut the tension with a knife. Caruana who is looking forward to becoming the first American to claim the world title after Bobby Fischer drew with Carlsen in the first match. It was a grueling seven-hour marathon match between Caruana and reigning champion Carlsen. Hollywood star Woody Harrelson, initiated the game on behalf of Caruana.

Carlsen had a perfect game and was in complete control until move no. 34. The Norwegian failed to capitalize on the advantage. He missed on several knockout blows, and after he realized that victory could not be achieved, he looked dejected. Caruana could count on his lucky stars as he sneaked out a draw given the situation he was in.
