CR7 Suffers Thigh Injury As Portugal Settles For Draw

As Portugal drew 1-1 against Serbia in the Euro 2020 qualifier, skipper Cristiano Ronaldo left the field with a thigh injury. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was replaced after 30 minutes in Lisbon as Fernando Santos’ reigning European champions drew for a second time in their opening two games of the campaign after they were held by Ukraine on Friday.

No further updates were available whether the enigmatic goal machine would be fit to play for Juventus in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at Ajax on April 10.

Dusan Tadic scored the opening goal of the match, via penalty conversion for Serbia against Portugal. Rui Patricio collided with a charging Mijat Gacinovic in the box and Tadic made no mistake to take a shock lead over the Euro 2016 winners. Ronaldo left the field on the half hour mark after he pulled up chasing a ball on the left wing. But the visitors were able to equalize the score with three minutes of the first half to play. Danilo Pereira hammered his shot from outside the box into the top corner past a hapless Dimitrov. Portugal will be facing Switzerland next in a Nations League semi-final clash on June 5.
