Crowing the Best of the Season

Every player plays for a wider purpose to contribute in turn for their country or for the sheer thrill of the game. Similarly, the game management also awards or rather acknowledges the efforts of these players to congratulate their contribution. In Football, UEFA have been appreciating players in each of their season, judging through their statistics to crown a single player to have performed exceptionally throughout the season with the title award UEFA Player of the Year.

For this year’s award, three world class names have been making rounds, before the final decision is laid on the table. This includes; Lionel Messi, Virgil Van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo. The star player of Barcelona, has represented the club in the current season of La Liga and Champions League, with the highest goal tally to reach the not just the list but to make Barca stand out from the lot.

Secondly, Virgil Van Dijk for Liverpool was voted for Premier League Player of the Season and the Players’ Player of the Year. Apart from that the Merseyside club’s sixth European Cup triumph made him advance for the UEFA glory.

Lastly, the three times UEFA Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo has never been off the charts since the award’s debut in 2011. Debuting for Juventus, his initial approach was very timid at the beginning of this season, but excelling later in the eight successive league titles he came back with 21 goals tally only to be crowned as the ‘Most Valuable Player’ of Serie A. With Messi leading the charts so far, the result is yet to be unveiled in the Champions’ League Group Stage draw ceremony on 29th August 2019.
