Yet another victory for Chennai Super Kings! There’s just no stopping MS Dhoni and company, as they defeated Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets.
Shikhar Dhawan scored 47-balls 51 runs to guide Delhi Capitals to 147 at the fall of 6 wickets. And Rishabh Pant chipped in with a quickfire 25 runs from 13 balls, to contribute to the Delhi total. In comparison to the runs being posted in today’s T20 matches, it was a pretty meager scoreline. Dwayne Bravo was the pick of the bowlers for CSK as he picked up 3 wickets giving away only 33 runs in his four-overs quota.
There was nothing much that Delhi Capitals could do. Player of the match Watson and Suresh Raina just had to lay their bat on the ball to pepper the boundaries backward of the square. By the time Amit Mishra came into the attack, Watson had bludgeoned 44 off 26 and Raina eased to 30 off 16. Once the foundation was laid, Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav just knocked off the remaining 48 runs in nine overs. Skipper Dhoni finished off unbeaten with 32 runs from 35 balls.
It would now depend on Delhi Capitals management and coach Ricky Ponting to have a discussion with Dhawan who was assigned with the role of holding the top order together and guiding the young batting line-up.
