The ATP Rankings have been upgraded recently, but the top ranks haven’t changed a bit. The top seeds of Tennis at the time, Novak Djokovic remains at top with 9,865 points, and for the 269th week. Rafael Nadal following close behind Djokovic clinched on to the 2nd sport with 9,225 points, while Roger Federer stayed at no.3 with 7,130 points.
Novak have been on the top rank for the 269th week, is only behind Czechoslovakian genius of 1983, Ivan Lendl topping the rank for a tenure of 270 weeks and the Swiss maestro Roger Federer having a record of 310 weeks on top. Djokovic had a wild show at Wimbledon winning more hearts than points, which eventually set the lead for him, despite losing points due to exit from US Open after a shoulder injury, but retained a 640 points lead over the US Open 2019 winner, Rafael Nadal.
The 4th position on the rankings list is claimed by the Russian favorite Daniil Medvedev, who battled through the US Open to reach the finals, and despite being downed by an exceptional Rafael Nadal, he managed to clinch enough points to advance in the rankings. Dominic Thiem clinched onto the 5th spot, after a few upsets and not being up to his personal best for a while.
India’s star Sumit Nagal, had a dream debut in the international circuit of US Open, opposite the Spanish genius Rafael Nadal. After a strong portrayal of skills by the debutant often cornering Nadal was enough to give him some praise, though later, Nadal awoke from his slumber to submerge Nagal’s little hope at conquering. However, his brave show ensured Sumit Nagal advances in the ATP rankings to take a leap of 15 places to jump-up to 159th rank. On the other hand, Panjesh Gunneswaran leaped 3 places to 82nd rank, the only Indian to stay within top-100.
