EPL Weekend Round-up

After going down against Chelsea in the Carabou cup, Liverpool went up against the London based side again this weekend hoping to seek revenge. Chelsea star Eden Hazard put his club in front with a fine finish, becoming the highest scorer of the league in the process. It seemed like the match would end without any more goals and Chelsea would walk away with all three points. Daniel Sturridge, the man who missed a sitter in the previous match before scoring Liverpool’s only goal with an overhead kick, was brought on in the 86th minute. In the 89th minute, Sturridge received the ball just outside the box with most of the Chelsea players sitting back. He went for the shot as the whole Chelsea defence stood and watched the Englishman curl it over Kepa, into the back of the net. We were lost for words as Sturridge probably scored one of the goals of the season. You have to see it to believe it.

la-liga-1

Arsenal defeated Watford 2-0 to make it five out of five wins in the league and secure the 5th position. Tottenham on the other hand went past Huddersfield 2-0 and are placed 4th on GD. The real winners of the matchday however were City, who following Liverpool’s draw took the pole position in the league after their win against Brighton. Everton won 3-0 against Fulham and it looks like Tosun has finally found his scoring boots. Wolves defeated Southampton 2-0 while Leicester Beat Newcastle by the same score-line.

la-liga

Manchester United continue their poor run of form as they went down 3-1 against West Ham. It’s far from alright at the Old Trafford as things seem to be getting worse between Jose Mourinho and Pogba. The match was unsurprisingly characterised by banners and posters saying ‘Jose out’. They have slipped to the 10th position in the league and it looks like we could soon have a regime change.
Burnley got the better of Cardiff City (2-1) while Crystal Palace and Bournemouth play each other tonight.
