Mumbai City registered a comprehensive 2-0 win against Chennaiyin FC in an ISL encounter on Thursday at the Mumbai Football Arena. The 22 year old RaynierFernandes drew first blood in the match on the 27th minute, followed by Modou Sougou’s stunning header in the second half of the match. Mumbai were able to create and convert chances based on Chennaiyin FC’s apparent errors on the field. With this victory, Mumbai climbed to the second position on the ISL table. After the initial chances in the match, Mumbai launched a barrage of attacks on the Chennaiyin side and it served them well enough to earn a goal. Chennaiyin had their chance on the 32nd minute but a weak shot from Augusto didn’t help much. To make the victory more satisfying, Lothar Matthaus, the world cup winning German skipper closely followed the match.
