Gagan Narang clinched 13th position in the World Cup shooting

London Olympics bronze medal winner Gagan Narang clinched 13th position in the World Cup in Fort Benning at US. 

It has been reported that the Hyderabad-based marksman shot 621.5 and missed the final by 0.7 point. He required to score 10.6 in his final shot to qualify but succeeded to score just 9.8. The star Indian shooter scored excellently in the fifth and sixth series when he shot 106.0 and 104.6 respectively. Unfortunately, he had lagged behind in the first four rounds when he shot 103.5, 101.8, 103.4 and 102.2.

Apart from him, other Indians in the fray were Chain Singh who shot 619.4 captured the 20th position in a field of 47 while Sanjeev Rajput stood 36th with a total of 612.0.

Abhinav Bindra, the former world and Olympic champion was missing from the line-up as he was suffering from a back problem. He will also not represent the athletes in the IOC meeting scheduled to begin in Lausanne on 15th May. Following a 15th finish in the first World Cup in Korea, the champion has opted to skip the second World Cup of the season. He is supposed to compete at his favorite venue Munich in the third World Cup for rifle and pistol shortly this month.
