Germany scalded!

It was unbelievably shocking as Germany went out of the World Cup at the Group stages. Germany, the reigning world champions are out of the tournament in the first hurdle they faced in the Group Stage. The unthinkable happened as Joachim Low’s side failed to beat Mexico resulting in them falling at the first hurdle in Russia. This was their first World Cup elimination at the Group stage in 80 years. This was rather apocalyptic for the German football fans.

Sweden did not help the German cause as they beat Mexico by 3-0 in the other match that took place at the same time, which meant that Germany needed to defeat South Korea to get through in second place. Germany would have been able to progress with a win at the Kazan Arena but they were unable to get beyond the South Korean goalkeeper. Germany created numerous chances but failed to convert any.

In the dying minutes, a Toni Kroos back pass failed as Kim-Young Gwon tapped in from close range. It was ruled offside but the goal stood through VAR intervention. Germany became desperate and Manuel Neuer went up the field to try and find a goal. However, Tottenham forward Son-Heung Min was played through with a lofty pass to go and score into an empty German net thus ending any chances the Germans might have had to progress. The match will be forever remembered as one which shook German football to its very core.
