Humpy And Harika Settles For Draw

Indian grandmasters Koneru Humpy and D Harika settled for a draw with black pieces in the ongoing World Women’s Chess Championship. Humpy drew against Poland’s Jolanta Zawadzka while Harika drew against Bela Khotenashvili of Georgia in their respective first game of the second round.

Humpy and Zawadzka exchanged pieces early on in the match and after the rooks were traded in an open file, both players knew that a draw was inevitable. The Petroff defense game ended with an agreement of draw after 26 moves.

On the other hand, Khotenashvili enjoyed slight opening advantage against Harika as she played Trompovsky opening. But Harika maintained her composure, tried very hard in the endgame. However, the Georgian was good with her defense and they settled for a draw.
