We know that crazy fans exist. Fans, who are incredibly strong to give up all they can to meet their idols and to cheer for their team. The World Cup 2018 has definitely seen such fans who have left their jobs, borrowed large sums of money and sold their essentials to follow their team all the way to Russia.
Tonight Peru will be going against France at the Central stadium. Quite expectedly, there exist a huge number of Peruvian fans who have given up their luxuries and consistent daily life pattern to cheer for their team. Whole families have come together, including elderly supporters journeying with their grandchildren.
Edgar, an 80-year old arrived at Saransk travelling in a 10 hour long train and via three different airplanes. Tired, but still keeping his warmth conspicuous, he says “The journey was brutal for me, but how could I miss this? I have waited so long to sing our songs in another country once again.”
Pedro, left his job and came along with his close friend Alexis taking all the money he had in his savings and carefully planned the journey, availing the cheapest options every time.
Even though Peru lost their first match against Denmark, which disappointed a lot of fans, but they are ready to cheer again for their team tonight. Even local volunteers and security guards are touched by their love for the country and their generous gestures of helping them in the camps. The Peruvians have surely shown us what football is about and how deep the love for the game can be.
