India Lose The ODI Series Against Australia

After trailing the five match ODI series 0-2, the Australians made a gallant fightback to win the final three games of the series. A historic series victory for the visitors indeed! If the hosts India have lost a bilateral ODI series at home for the first time since 2015, it was the first time since 2009 that the Aussies have won an ODI series in India.

The ODI series loss on the back of a T20 series loss would definitely raise some tough questions which needs to be addressed before the World Cup. Each and every sector needs to be dealt with; the openers, middle order batsmen, spinners, pacers, the final squad, fielding and finally the strategy.

Khawaja continued his fine form as he scored yet another century and Handscomb contributed 52 runs to guide Australia to post a total of 272-9. Bhuvneshwar picked up 3 wickets, and Shami and Jadeja picked up 2 wickets each to restrict the Aussies to a total below 300. Chasing a total of 273, India were bowled out for a total of 237, to gift the Aussies a 35 runs victory. Rohit Sharma and Kedar Jadhav scored 56 runs and 44 runs respectively, while Bhuvneshwar scored an impressive 46 runs down the order to give India some hope in the game, but it was not enough. For the Aussies, Zampa was the pick of the bowlers claiming 3 wickets.
