India leads in South Asian Games - Googly Mania










India tops South Asian Games with 252 medals

India has shown a commanding performance in the South Asian Games leaving behind all its competitors. Swimming, wrestling or handball; Indian sportspersons have showcased their brilliant performances in the biennial multi sports event held among the athletes from South Asia. The swimmers have bagged as many as 7 golds, 2 silver and 2 bronze; whereas on the other hand wrestlers secured all the four yellow metals. Swimmer Kushagra Rawat picked up the first prize in men’s 400m freestyle event with a time of 3:49.76 while Anand Shylaja took the silver with a time 4:01.02. Swimmer Supriya Mondal too added another gold in men’s 200m butterfly clocking 2:02.45, while Mihir Ambre took the bronze with a time of 2:09.14. In Judoka, Sushila Devi brought the first gold in women's 48 kg, following which Vijay Kumar Yadav won gold in men's 60kg and Jasleen Singh Saini bagged gold in 66 kg. Vishal Ruhil too bagged bronze in 73 kg, Suchika Tariyal won gold in women's 57 kg, while L. Nirupama Devi brought gold in 63 kg and Gayatri Tokas bagged silver in 52 kg category. In Kabaddi as well Indian men and women teams have performed really well and qualified into the finals. India has added 38 more medals (22 golds, 10 silver, 6 bronze) to its collection on Day 7 of the South Asian Games. India currently has 252 medals in its possession out of which there are 132 golds, 79 silvers, and 41 bronzes. India after such a wonderful performance stands at the first position, with host country Nepal in the second position securing 165 medals (45 gold, 44 silver, 76 bronze) and Sri Lanka at third position collecting 197 medals (36 gold, 68 silver, 93 bronze).
