India vs England: 3rd Test (Day 2) Review

In the 3rd Test in Trent Bridge, England won the toss and invited India to bat first. In the first innings, India managed to put up a challenging 329 runs. On a difficult wicket, England came out to chase down what looked like an intimidating first innings score.

Impressive spells from Bumrah and Ishant Sharma saw the England openers dismissed in their 20’s. England started losing wickets at regular intervals, desperately looking for a partnership that would anchor their innings. However, that didn’t happen as England were dismissed for a lowly 161, trailing India by 168 runs. Hardik Pandya did brilliantly to scalp 5 wickets, rounding up the English tail-end.

Coming out to bat again, India capitalised on what looked like a great opportunity. The Indian openers did a decent job before being dismissed. Ben Stokes got rid of Rahul while Shikhar Dhawan got stumped from a Adil Rashid delivery. It did not necessarily help the English, as Virat Kohli and Pujara formed a steady partnership to give India a 300+ lead, putting them in the front seat.

Captain Kohli seems to be in stellar form, scoring 97 in the first innings and still going steady in the second. It looks like India are on the verge of victory in Trent Bridge, giving them a chance of staging a comeback in the series.
