Indian Grand Prix may be pulled out from the 2014 Formula One calendar

It has emerged that the Indian Grand Prix may be pulled out from the 2014 Formula One calendar. The F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone quoted that the problem of hosting the race at Greater Noida was "very political."

Addressing at the Hungarian Grand Prix held in Budapest on Sunday, Ecclestone declared that the Indian leg of F1 may not occur from next year. While hinting that political reasons made the event a nightmare, he interrogated if India going to happen next year. Then he replied negatively.

In fact, the Buddh International Circuit has hosted two F1 races since its debut in 2011 both of which were won by Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel. Despite the initial response to the track was positive, there have been irritating issues like imposing tax on cars and machines which are brought in for the race. Precisely, two other venues, Sochi in Russia and Austria are strong competitors in getting a race each from next year. In the same lines, India's prospects of retaining its October date with the motorsport do not appear too bright.

Notably, Ecclestone plans the F1 calendar and usually presents it to the International Automobile Federation in September for approval. Currently, he has a possible 22 races struggling for space. Specifically, teams prefer a maximum of 20.

Sauber's Indian-born principal Monisha Kaltenborn commented that it would be a pity if for these tax reasons they don't go there. He added that India is a crucial market for partners who are already in Formula One or who could enter Formula One because of that market so it truly would be a pity if they would not manage to fix these problems.
