‘It feels like we’re having the time of our lives.'

Official anthems have been a requisite for FIFA World Cups. Conventionally, an artist or a band from the host nation collaborates with several other artists to create the official song. There are a few songs that are still in the top favourites irrespective of the year they were produced in. Let us have a look at the top four anthems till date.

Copa de la Vida (1998)- Ricky Martin

“The cup of life” has been voted as the best FIFA World cup anthem by people across several sites, notably, Dallas Observer and Billboard. Critics often view this song that revolutionized the concept of merging daily emotions with football. Quite undeniably, Ricky Martin became a worldwide sensation after this release. The song was even performed at the 41st Grammys and has secured its spot amongst the most vibrant anthems yet.

Wavin Flag (2010)- Knaan ft. Nancy Ajram

This song was originally penned down by Knaan to express the dreams of freedom of Somalia and its aftermath. Prior to this song coming out officially as a FIFA anthem, it had already grabbed popularity, and was quite near to becoming a global hit. For the official video to be shot, Knaan performed this song with artists across the world with a goal of uniting everyone and expressing their freedom and emotions.

Gloryland(1994)- Daryl Hall

Sung by 80s ruling Billboard pop artist, Daryl Hall and Sounds of Blackness, Gloryland expectedly shot to fame and made a place in the US and UK music charts. The song was also used as the theme to ITV’s coverage of the tournament.

El Rock del Mundial(1962)- Los Ramblers
