In this World cup, anything can happen, especially the unprecedented. Tonight was another special night of this World Cup which is turning out as the most interesting in the recent memory.
This seems to be England’s World Cup for now. Everything seems to be slotting into place for England in the right time. Is this what is called the luck of champions? We will surely find out in a few days. England now has a couple of matches standing between themselves and the World Cup Final.
England pressed and attacked Colombia from the start of the match, and got a penalty when Kane was pushed and brought down inside the area. However, the game changed soon, late into stoppage time. Uribe shot at the England goal from distance, and Pickford tipped the ball wide. It was a Colombian corner. Even Ospina came up for a chance to bring Colombia level. Even Yerry Mina came up and eventually, he outjumped Harry Maguire to head the ball down. The ball bounced awkwardly and was headed into the net by Trippier.
Then came penalties and Kane again converted. Yet Henderson’s shot was tipped by Ospina and everyone wrote England off. Uribe missed for Colombia and Pickford saved a shot from Bacca and Dier scored to send England to the next stage of the tournament. Where England will go from there, we can only imagine for now.
