La Liga is off the mark

Domestic football is finally back after the FIFA World Cup and the preseason friendlies. EPL and Ligue 1 started off last week while La Liga and Serie A kick off this weekend. In the opener, Girona and Real Valladolid played each other in a goalless draw yesterday. Levante defeated Real Betis 3-0 in the following game. Today, Celta Vigo go up against Espanyol while Villareal take on Real Sociedad. Later tonight, Barcelona will play their league-opener against Alaves. However, the match of the week is scheduled for Monday, as Valencia go head-to-head with Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid play their first game of the league tomorrow against Getafe.

Seria A begins tonight as Juventus take on Chievo in the inaugural match to kick things off. Allegri has confirmed that Ronaldo will make his competitive Juventus debut tonight. On the other hand, Napoli and Lazio lock horns in what promises to be a thrilling encounter. Two Serie A matches however, have been postponed, following the collapse of a motorway bridge in Genoa. The two matches, Milan vs Genoa and Sampdoria vs Fiorentina have been postponed. In a different fixture, Torina play Roma in the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
