Barcelona captain Lionel Messi has given a perfect response to the Portuguese star’s challenge to join him in Italy. Messi has explained why he doesn’t fancy switching of clubs. This comes at a time when the debate as to who is the better footballer is at a crescendo.
Having left Real Madrid for Juventus, Ronaldo had recently challenged Messi to join him in Italy. Ronaldo claimed that he has played in England, Spain, Italy, Portugal, in the national team, while Messi is still in Spain. He claimed that he is open to all kinds of challenges and would like to see Messi too accept the challenge and step out of his comfort zone. Ronaldo has adapted himself to the leagues, clubs, and oppositions, no matter where he has played. On the other hand, Messi was signed by Barcelona at the young age of 13 and has emerged as arguably the club’s greatest player in history.
In an interview with Marca, Messi revealed why he doesn’t fancy switching clubs. He said he did not need any change. He claimed that he is playing for the best team in the world and that his set of challenges renew year after year. He doesn’t need to change teams or leagues to set new goals. Messi addressed more questions on the prospects of having Neymar and Pep Guardiola back in Barcelona, along with questions on the Ballon D’Or standings.
Both Messi and Ronaldo have been in sublime form this season, leading their respective teams to the top of the league tables. Both are also vying for the top scorer’s title this calendar year.
