Michael Nobbs has been ousted as India's chief hockey coach

It has been reported that India's chief hockey coach Michael Nobbs has been ousted following a series of poor performance in the World Hockey League.

The former Australian Olympian has been asked to quit after India's poor performance in The Netherlands where India could not make it to the top-three. Since then, it was planned to show him the doors. The former India hockey player Pargat Singh asserted that it was high time that the 59-year-old was given marching orders.

Actually, Nobbs was appointed as head coach of the national men's team in June of 2011 and his contract continued till the 2016 Olympics at Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

Many people opined that he had been unsuccessful in delivering results with even former coach Joaquim Carvalho where good strategies were missing. Carvalho quoted earlier this month that he has displayed no improvement in the Indian hockey team. In fact, a good coach needs to emerge with good strategies against particular rivals, should posses good management and communication skills along with the ability to read the game. He is not a coach.

The former Dutch high performance coach Roelant Oltmans is supposed to be responsible for the national camp commencing in Bangalore on 16th July for the Asia Cup. India has to win the championship to book a berth in the World Cup.
