Rayadu’s Back in Business

The last few months have been a rollercoaster for cricket lovers, with splendid gameplay and shocking turn of events. Be it the hard-fought ICC World Cup final by New Zealand, despite losing the trophy and title to England; or the thrilling Ashes moments with Steve Smith’s redemption or England’s steady counters; or India exercising an ‘invincible’ team, with controversial selections. The controversial selections of ICC World Cup 2019, was an emotional moment for Ambati Rayadu, more than professional, who decided to conclude his dream journey on being stranded.

Two months after Rayadu’s silent departure from cricket, he finally admits his decision to be made on an emotional ground. During that time, Ambati Rayadu was one of the players awaiting to be selected in the World Cup squad. However, the inclusion of Vijay Shankar in the 15-men squad, and after Shankar’s injury, and Mayank Agarwal being the replacement options, when Rayadu being on standby, seemed enough for the heartbroken Rayadu

An emotionally hurt Ambati, took the drastic decision of quitting all forms of cricket. According to reports, two months after the incident, Ambati Rayadu sent an email to Hyderabad Cricket Association, stating his decision was an ‘emotional one’ and he will be available for playing all formats of the game. He made it clear, by stating “Of course, who will say no to India?

One a brighter note, the Hyderabad Cricket Association also seemed positive about Ambati Rayadu’s return and contribution. Since the Ranji squad is all set to begin their next season soon, Rayadu’s presence will be an important one for the team. The 33-old batsmen will be back in action, and there are still a few years left before he can actually rest, but never be entirely gone from the game.
