Julen Lopetegui was sacked on Monday following a series of disappointing results, last at the hands of arch rivals Barcelona by 5-1. The Los Blancos are currently on ninth position in the La Liga table. He is being replaced by Madrid B team coach Santiago Solari. The interim coach has stated that some players were reportedly disappointed with their performance. And they hope to bounce back strongly in their next match against third tier minnows Melilla in the first leg of Copa Del Rey.
Solari hopes to follow the footsteps of the legend Zinedine Zidane who also stepped up from B team coach. The team is focused to work out their tactics and improve the quality of playing in the next match. Solari said, “The idea is to go to Melilla and show a lot of character”. He feels this is a great opportunity to get back on track.
