RR skipper Rahul Dravid picks surprise spinner Pravin Tambe for Shane Warne

Rajasthan Royals will have a surprise inclusion for IPL-6 season as skipper Rahul Dravid took the bold decision of picking 42-yearl-old Mumbai spinner Pravin Tambe. RR has been facing the heat ever since its previous coach and skipper Shane Warne has tendered resignation. However, the Jaipur based franchise has tasted moderate success with the inclusion of Dravid at the helm of the affairs. The former Indian Test player has changed gears regarding his batting besides controlling the team affairs as well.

So, Pravin Tambe might be 42 and has been on the domestic circuit for a long time without any call for national duty. However, it was the perseverance and dedication of the leg-spinner that seems to have paid off well in the ultimate stages of his career. A delightful moment has come in the life of Tambe after he has been signed up by the Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

"He has been on our radar for quite some time now, as we have been looking for a leg-spinner. He has been on the circuit for a long time and deserved a chance, said Raghu Iyer, CEO of Rajasthan Royals.

It has also appeared that Rajasthan skipper Rahul Dravid was the one who took the final call on Tambe. The Mumbaikar eventually has his chance to shine amongst the big boys! Whether he can spin a web by putting opposition batsmen in a fix or not has been to seen in an eager way. Considering the fact that IPL exploits brings the players’ heroics to the fore instantly, Tambe might be well onto his way to glory. It must have been hardwork from the Mumbai spinner for sure as he has been taking care of the fitness levels for sure.

Competing with other players who are less than half of his age is something that matters the most on an overall. The IPL 6 season has already kicked off in a grand manner. Perhaps, there are huge expectations on the success of this tournament. Several changes have taken place in the other teams already. Meanwhile, it is expected that major teams are known to put up a spirited display for sure in order to win the coveted title.

However, it is interesting to note that it was just a couple of weeks ago, Tambe received his maiden Mumbai call-up for the Vijay Hazare tournament but couldn't make his debut as Mumbai were knocked out in the quarterfinals. Late last year, Tambe had played for Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in a couple of games against an England Performance Program team. Certainly, all these stints have work in favor of the player acting as morale boosters for him.

It is only after the IPL 6 season begins that it can be determined whether Tambe will prove to be a lucky mascot for them or just another dud to bite the dust. Irrespective of what the situations could be, now, the veteran can look forward to sharing field space with the stars in the cash-rich IPL.
