Saina Nehwal will spearhead the India Open Super Series. True champion!

Men's singles World No.1 badminton star Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia and women's World No.2 Saina Nehwal of India will return to action at the Siri Fort Indoor Complex for the India Open Super Series commencing from 23rd April. Both the Malaysian shuttler, who won the inaugural India Open title in 2011 and the Indian shuttle queen will lead the challenge at the $200,000 tournament.

Over 200 badminton players from 18 countries will consist of Indonesia, Malaysia, Germany, Denmark, Korea, China, Japan, England and the host country India are supposed to participate in this event whose entries closed in March.

Apart from Chong Wei and Nehwal, the participants include men's doubles Olympic silver medallists Mathias Boe and Cartsen Mogensen of Denmark, All England Open women's runners-up Ratnachok Intathon of Thailand, men's No.4 Sony Dwi Kuncoro from Indonesia and women's World No.4 Juliane Schenk of Germany.

Former Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat and Simon Santoso in men's singles will enhance the participant list by arriving from Indonesia while Kenichi Tago of Japan and World No.6 Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark intend to win their maiden India Open crown. Chinese shuttlers World No.7 Chen Jin and No.11 Wang Jhengming will also grace this event.

Badminton doubles event will be equally thrilling. Women's World No.2 pairing of Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi from Japan, World No.3 women's doubles pair of Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen of Denmark and Ko Sung Hyun and Lee Yong Dae of Korea, World No.2 Malaysian duo Kien Keat Koo and Boon Heong Tan will boost up the event.

The host country India will be spearheaded by Saina seeking her maiden India Open title. Ashwini Ponnappa and Jwala Gutta will play with new partners for the first time in the tournament’s history. Ashwini is supposed to pair up with Pradnya Gadre while Jwala will pair up with Prajakta Sawant. We wish all the best to all for this important upcoming event.

World No.8 Parupalli Kashyap is the top-ranked Indian men's badminton player. He has made headlines through a dramatic performance in the previous match against Ajay Jayaram where he qualified for the Olympic London Games. Besides Kashyap and Jayaram, the other Indian players who are going to grace the event are Sai Praneeth, R.M.V. Gurusaidutt, K. Srikanth in men's and Arundhati Pantawane and World No.16 P.V. Sindhu in women's.
