All-rounder Shane Watson will lead Rajasthan royals in forthcoming Indian premier league season 7. He has been associated with rajasthan team since IPL 2008 competition and Watson played key role in inaugural tournament when RR won the trophy.
Rahul Dravid got retirement from Rajasthan Royals and all form of games in last ipl edition, hence it was expecting that Watson may lead the team. Rahul will be associated with RR camp as a mentor and will guide youngsters.
On the announcement of Shane Watson as captain of Rajasthan Royals Rahul Dravid said, “I would like to congratulate Shane Watson on his appointment as the captain of the royals. He is not only on of the world’s best all-rounder but a leader par excellence. Watson has been with the team since the first season and is familiar with the players and the staff. The royals squad is a bunch of extremely energetic and talented players who know their roles perfectly well and they will thrive under Watson’s inspiring leadership”.

Shane Watson has scored 1785 runs in 55 matches of ipl competition with a good strike rate of 145.59 , he has taken 48 wickets as well. So it’s a good record and we can hope that his performance will get more better as now he will lead the Rajasthan squad in IPL7.
