Shilpa Shetty and her dreams about Rajasthan Royals

Bollywood diva Shilpa Shetty is high on her new job as she was busy with her schedule with Rajasthan Royals. The owner of the winning team of the inaugural edition of IPL, Shilpa Shetty, did pour out her heart regarding her aspirations about her team after the bidding process was completed on Sunday's IPL auction.

After she chose to marry London-based businessman Raj Kundra, the Bangalore girl has been out of the radar for a quite a while now. Apart from winning the first Indian edition of Big Boss, there were no notable appearances from her so far. She now returns in the new role of a mother to handle the activities of RR. This shows it’s back to business for her.

She expresses her happiness for being at the helm of affairs again. Ms. Shetty says, “It feels great to be back in action. The Rajasthan Royals is also our baby and I cannot be showing it step-motherly treatment so I felt it was important for me to be back for the auction.”

Shilpa Shetty was totally invisible for the fans and the team management as well for IPL-5 because of her pregnancy. Commenting upon her absence, she quips, “I missed the last year's auction due to birth of my child. The energy inside the hall was good. It was a smaller auction, we already had our core team set. We had a few decisions to make based on what our team lacked and we got what we set out to do.”

After spin legend Shane Warne retired from IPL, the onus of leading the team was taken over by former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid. Nicknamed as ‘The Wall’, the Karnataka based player led the team to successful chase during the previous edition.

Shilpa Shetty opines the same by mentioning that Rahul played a crucial role in determining the players who the management wanted to select. He knew what they wanted like an allrounder and a player who can bowl well in the slog overs. RR had a proven team composition during the previous season but they were bereft in specific arenas, which they think would sorted. (Rajasthan Royals picked up rookie Australian left-arm pacer and lower order batsman James Faulker, West Indian pacer Fidel Edwards and Sri Lankan wicket-keeper batsman Kushal Perera.)

Meanwhile, the services of Shane Warne would be sorely missed for sure. Reacting about the same, Ms. Shetty says, “Shane will always be with us as an ardent Rajasthan Royal. It's just that he will not be physically present with us. There is no denying that there is a connect between the Royals and Warnie and there always will be. It depends on his schedules if time permits he would love to come and watch a few games of his former team.”

IPL-6 will be on its way in April as usual. It now needs to be seen how the teams will prepare themselves on way to win the coveted title this season. IPL is one of the richest leagues that has got international exposure on par with the football leagues.
