Sprinting Like a Pro

The unstoppable Hima Das went on like a fresh gust of wind, winning her 5th gold on a foreign track of Europe making India prouder than ever. Coming back to 400-meter race after few months, the Dhing Express, sprinted with grace to clinch on to her 5th gold in a very short span of time. The 19-year old has been literally on fire with her untamed performances, improving each time and taking her competitors by a storm.

Winning her 5th gold in the 400-meter format was an important challenge for her, as the last time she appeared for the 400-meter race earlier this season in the Asian Athletics Championship in April, she had to back down before even completing the race due to her back spasm. Her back problems have been looming over her head in the recent times as well, but her only priority has been winning the gold. With a record time of 52.09 seconds in Czech Republic, Das earned the gold, while her personal best in the Asian Games last year was recorded as 50.79 seconds

Previously, she had claimed golds in 200-meter format twice in Poland, and twice in Czech Republic in the month of July only. Her brace in the last 3 weeks ceasing as much as 5 back-to-back golds in a row, has the country applauding her, with both President Kovind and Prime Minister Modi officially congratulating her on their Twitter handles respectively.
