Tottenham Hotspur travelled to Manchester on a Monday night to play Mourinho’s boys in the third gameweek of the Premier League season. It goes without mentioning, that the match was going to be really difficult for the visitors who would be looking to inflict more wounds on the Red Devils who were coming off a defeat against Brighton. The first half was goalless and didn’t see a lot of chances. RomeloLukaku however, missed the best chance of the game, putting it wide, trying to put the ball into an open goal after dribbling past the goalkeeper.
The first goal came in the second half, when Harry Kane headed the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal from a Trippier set-piece. Lucas Moura doubled their lead a couple of minute later from a low cross put in by Christian Eriksen. Lingard had a brilliant opportunity to pull one back, but saw it go wide following a deflection which earned United a corner. Lucas put in the third and the final nail in United’s coffin, putting it past De Gea after taking out the whole defence almost singlehandedly.
