‘Stand By’ with the World Cup Notion

The world eagerly waits for the ICC World Cup every four years, as people’s faith in this particular game has been on an all-time high. The ICC World Cup is more of festival than a game, more importantly it allows us to look past the barriers and assimilate with people around the globe. Cricket fever has been dominant as cricket itself evolved into several new formats introducing to us 20 and 10 overs quick games to meet with the audience’s busy schedules which later raised doubt on the popularity for longer formats. But this never even slightly wavered the enthusiasm of the fans for the 50 overs ODI format, as World Cup basked into the glory it always possessed.

As 2019 World Cup season gets closer, on 17th May Friday, ICC announced its official World Cup song. Sung by Loryn and featuring Rudimental, ‘Stand By’ shows the spirit and passion of the game in our lives as we grow up and grow old. The song was made available for streaming in YouTube and other streaming platforms and will be played in grounds and city events across the tournament as the official song to this summer's showpiece event, starting from May 30. This year 10 teams will be representing their respective nations coming forward to contest and offer their best performances for the World Cup. This will mark the 12th edition of ICC World Cup. India has previously been triumphant twice in their World Cup journey, in 1983 and in 2011. Australia is the current team to hold the World Cup since the last time in 2015 and will start their journey of defending the cup as well, from 30th May onwards.
