Despite concerns regarding poor infrastructure, the Goa Olympic Association on Monday maintained that the 3rd Lusofonia Games would be held on schedule.
In fact, the multinational sporting event involves athletes from Lusophone which are Portuguese-speaking countries and those having noteworthy Portuguese communities too or that have a common past with Portugal.
Remarkably, the Goa Government is organizing the multi-discipline event from 2nd-10th November. However, there is uncertainty over the Games after media reported that the stadiums and other infrastructure were not in place till date.
Specifically, GOA Secretary Gurudatta Bhakta highlighted that these reports are not true and the Games will be organized on time. In fact, GOA is one of the Government agencies involved in preparations. He clarified that media reports regarding uncertainty over hosting the Lusofonia Games in Goa due to incomplete infrastructure are incorrect. Works on the venues are continuing at a fast pace and he assured that they will be finished before the deadline.
Bhakta stated that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is personally monitoring the progress on a daily basis and he is a man who is known to deliver. Truly they believe in him. Bhakta was addressing on the event of release of the fifth edition of ‘Goa in Sports’ magazine.
