Troubled Times for Shami

In a recent turn of events, decisive allegations raised on the star-pacer of Indian team, Mohammed Shami, has evidently intimidated a legal issue by none other than, but his own wife. Shami’s marital life started becoming a constant drag between his efficient career on the field, but did raise a lot of fingers on the bowler concerning his behavior out of the field-life.

In 2018, March, the pacer’s wife, Hasin Jahan filed a First Information Report (FIR) against him, with suspicious yet gruesome allegations, of domestic violence and sexual assault. The FIR involved, the names of Shami and his family members as well. The complaint on the cricketer had its toll, when his national contract by BCCI was withheld for some time but later he made amends with his performance in the World Cup

As a matter of fact, those dark days never left his side, as he has now been booked with an arrest warrant, and asked to turn himself in within 15 days or face the consequences of law, on 2nd September. Though he was cleared off from the BCCI hurdle and cleared from the allegations of match fixing and corruption by the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), but the case was clearly not over yet.

The charge sheet by Kolkata Alipore’s Court was issued under IPC Section 498A, which implies, domestic violence by husband or partner; and secondly, under IPC section 406, which signifies, criminal breach of trust. The charges claimed against Shami’s mother and sister were dropped, with Shami’s lawyer winning the case. Shami has from the start denied all the allegations made on his name, stating that it was ill-motive of people trying defame him and hamper his game.

BCCI will me having a discussion on Mohammed Shami with Committee of Administrators (CoA) for the upcoming selection of the national side, and whether Shami would be available. Currently, Shami is touring abroad, but he will still have to show up within 15-days-time given to him by the court, but the charges pressed against his brother, are to come into effect immediately.
