WFI Taking Action Against Indiscipline in Camp

Just before the World Championship trials, the wrestlers had to go through another hurdle, which involves an anticipated risk for participation in their upcoming event. The Wrestling Federation India (WFI) was highly disappointed by the indiscipline shown by players for not appearing in their training without permissions or prior notice. WFI claiming lack of dedication in many players, have expelled 25 wrestlers who were expected to compete in World Championships, and asked for a show cause notice if they wanted to continue their journey for the tournament at hand.

The 25 names include, in the 50kg category, Indu Chaudhary, Preeti, Sheetal Tomar; under 53kg category, Seema, Keemti, Raman Yadav; Pinky and Pinky Rani, solo candidates for 55kg and 57kg category respectively; Manju, Ankita, Rani Rana under 59kg category; for the 62kg category Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik along with Rachna and Pooja; under 65kg category, Anita, Gargi Yadav, Ritu Malik; Rajni, Naina, Kavita for the 68kg category; and for the last and final category of 76kg Kiran, Jyoti, Sudesh, Pooja, Rani; were all handed a show cause notice and if not produced with a legitimate cause they are to stay expelled for the upcoming trials to be held on Monday

Three wrestlers, Sakshi Malik, Seema and Kiren were asked personally for not attending training camp in Lucknow, leaving without permission and were marked absent. The Wrestling Federation India (WFI) were furious and disheartened with such behavior and faltering dedication and unmindful excuses by the wrestlers. Malik along with the other two replied immediately to the notice stating she has been to home for the festivities of Raksha Bandhan and apologized for her lack of sincerity. Her apology insisted WFI to let her continue and fight for the trials of World Champions as she understands the sincerity and hard work behind the game and will be cautious next time.
