After yesterdays bang-on match between Russia and Saudi Arabia, it’s now time for a faceoff between the other two team of Group A, Egypt and Uruguay. It is finally time for Egypt as they end their 28 year World Cup drought as they play today.
It is the first Russia 2018 outing for both the teams with the second match of the tournament. Both sides are desperate to begin Group A in positive style, following the match between Russia and Saudi Arabia. The match is highly anticipated in Egypt where the country will finally come to a virtual stand-still for the Pharaohs’ first FIFA World Cup after nearly three decades. It has been somewhat melodramatic or Egypt after the shoulder injury of their star player Mohamed Salah. There will be much focus on the Liverpool man during the match, if any.
The two-time World Cup winners Uruguay present a formidable opening hurdle for Egypt, who is still shouldering the burden of making a splash on their World Cup return. There is an ensuring experience for Uruguay, who is also headlined by two star attacking pair Luis Suarez and Edison Cavani. Though a mixed qualifying campaign, Uruguay always brings their famed Charrua spirit to the big occasion.
