Yuvraj, Gambhir, Sehwag & Zaheer got a lifeline to win back their Team India positions

It has come to light that BCCI has declared India A team for the one-dayers and four-day games against touring West Indies A side. Notably, Yuvraj Singh has been named as the skipper for one-dayers, while Cheteshwar Pujara will lead India A in whites.

In fact, the series will witness the return of Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan and Virender Sehwag for the second and third four-day matches. Particularly, Yuvraj, Sehwag, Gambhir and Zaheer will be targeting to win back their Team India positions which they had lost either due to form or fitness issues. In addition, the former India cricket star Mohammed Kaif is included in the four-day format.

Notably, the three one-dayers as well as the lone T20, which is commencing on 15th September, are scheduled to be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Moreover, the venues for the four-day games, which is starting on 25th September, will be played at relatively undisclosed cricket grounds at Shimoga, Mysore and Hubli in Karnataka.

Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Praveen Kumar in addition to Rahul Sharma will get a chance to prove themselves in the one-day/T20 formats. It cannot be ignored that Irfan had suffered injury concerns, Praveen as well as Rahul had faced disciplinary action in the recent past, while Yusuf was dropped due to a serious plunge in form.

Robin Uthappa plus Unmukt Chand have been retained for the one-dayers following their recent extraordinary performances versus New Zealand A. Particularly, J&K all-rounder Parvez Rasool and pacer Ishwar Pandey will certainly get another opportunity to prove themselves in the 4-day format following a hard series against South Africa A.

Team India is scheduled to play back-to-back international series commencing with a home ODI contention against the Australia in October. However, the series against West Indies A will be a boon for many fading cricket star.

Schedule of India A vs West Indies A:

One-dayers: 15th, 17th and 19th September.

T20: 21st September.
